Give A Girl A Dignity Pack

On a cold Thursday morning, the 3rd of August Harvest Floor team supported a collaborative initiative to address a fundamental and basic need of menstrual hygiene, in young schoolgirls across Mogalakwena by supplying them with sanitary pads, in commemoration of Women’s Month.

Our vision is to ensure girls never miss a single day of school during or due to their menstrual cycles.  Lack of access to sanitary pads, mainly for schoolgirls in South African rural areas, is a major challenge in our beloved country thus it is our aim to respond to this dire situation and support wherever possible to drive our agenda and promote the challenges faced by many schoolgirls across the country.

The schools that benefited from this program are Mamagola Primary School, Cornelius Masibe Primary School, Podile Primary School and Godwin Masibe Primary.  The teen girls were very excited, that we were able to provide them with their dignity packs and the day was filled with smiles of gratitude from headmasters and educators. As they understand the challenge of their teen girls who have already started their monthly cycle. These schools rely heavily on Harvest Floor to consistently supply them with sanitary pads, and we are more than grateful to have support from different organisations that donated.

This year Harvest Floor was able to acquire sanitary pads worth R80 000 for 500 girls from various donors.  This initiative was supported by Gearvest, Wearpact, Excalibur, Papanyane, DRD Steel Enterprises, TW Profile, Pele Energy and Johnson Crane Hire. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the sponsors for this year’s Dignity Pack program.
