Mogalakwena, 23 April 2022 – This year marks the 25th anniversary of World Book Day celebrating ways to promote reading for pleasure with the theme ‘you are a reader‘!
As part of the continued celebrations for World Book Day, Harvest Floor in partnership with Biblionef have donated in-class libraries to four schools in Mapela, Limpopo. This partnership between Harvest Floor and Biblionef will assist in extending our outreach to touch as many lives as possible and address the critical issues with literacy in early childhood development.
Biblionef is a Non Profit Company in South Africa that donates new books in all 11 languages to organisations with an educational focus, e.g. schools, Early Childhood Development Centres, literacy organisations, drop-in centres, children’s homes, etc. The majority of the books Biblionef donates are locally produced and contain beautiful illustrations that South African children can relate to.
Harvest Floor appreciates Biblionef and its support of this initiative, this is one step forward towards advancing our education system as well as giving voice to the children in the Mapela community. We wish to see more children, particularly those from impoverished backgrounds with limited access to resources, with a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them.
